Kickstart a career in finance and make an impact on Royal Mail. On this 3-5 year (depending on exemptions) programme, you can earn a full-time salary as you develop a broad range of experience while working towards industry-recognised AAT qualifications. From data and reporting to payment process and technology, you’ll build a network among our award-winning financial teams as you lay the foundations for a successful career. We accept apprentices from Level 2 to Level 4 – so for example, if you’ve already achieved a Level 2, you can join us straight onto the Level 3 qualification. Whether you have a theoretical mind or prefer hands-on practical learning, this programme covers both as the perfect start to a financial career. 

What you will be doing 

As a Royal Mail Finance Apprentice, you will learn about all aspects of managing Royal Mail’s ‘finances’. From accounts receivable to accounts payable, to data and reporting, you’ll gain a broad range of experience. 

As part of your role, you will 

  • Work with the award-winning Accounts Receivable team, interacting directly with customers and setting up accounts 
  • Work in the Accounts Payable team, dealing with suppliers on a variety of payment processes 
  • Deliver results through data management, financial and business reporting, or process improvements through the use of technology

This is an entry level role supporting applicants wanting to start their finance careers and you do not need to be an expert before you join us. We’re looking for talented and motivated individuals who want to develop into successful financial professionals.  

You will be able to display analytical and communication skills along with a natural business sense that we will help turn into valuable professional skills. Additionally, you will have an eye for process improvements and streamlining ways of working with the drive to bring these improvements into the workplace. 

Your apprenticeship 

If you’re looking for variety, challenge and that combination of theory and hands-on work then this is the programme for you. 

You will study towards the industry-recognised AAT qualifications and accounting apprenticeship standards. We’ll give you the opportunities to put that theory into practice. It’s the perfect start to a career in finance. You will undertake a series of project placements across Finance. 

You will attend college one day per week, the course is a great way to build on your skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst also earning a salary. During your Apprenticeship, you will be taught and supported by experienced accounting tutors. You will also have your own Work Based Tutor who will provide support and guidance.  

During your Apprenticeship, you will have a dedicated Work Based Tutor who will train you to industry standards; support your time in employment; and coach you to pass your Apprenticeship.

Starting Salary: £16,500 

Duration: 3-5 years  

Eligibility: Five GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at grade C/4 or higher
