Kickstart a career in management with a fully funded Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6). On this three-year programme, you’ll work with a group of like-minded change makers as you lead projects, support strategies and gain exposure that’ll set you up for success. What you will be doing 

As a Royal Mail Degree Apprentice, you will partner and collaborate with leaders across the business to manage projects, activities, or services to deliver long term organisational success. You will gain an understanding of how our business works, create solutions for sustainable business change and become a trusted future manager. 

We have opportunities available in: 

Commercial – London only vacancies available: The business end of things like sales and marketing and working on creating and keeping customers with Royal Mail. 

Operations (inc. International) - Nationwide vacancies available, you will be asked to choose your preferred location on the next screen: The operational side of things including processing, delivery, and collections.  The COO also covers the future development and transformation of the organisation and our international operations. 

Parcelforce Worldwide – Glasgow, North West London, Central London and Coventry vacancies available, you will be asked to choose your preferred location on the next screen: Our parcel function and the collection and delivery system of parcels. We have 54 depots, from which we collect and deliver parcels to business and home addresses.  The depots feed into our hubs where parcels are sorted and then dispatched around the country or head international.  

National Distribution - Nationwide vacancies available, you will be asked to choose your preferred location on the next screen: National Distribution operate the Royal Mail distribution services over land, sea and air covering the UK and this includes a team who are responsible for the design and scheduling of these core and peak networks across the Royal Mail pipeline. They make sure the network is designed to get those Christmas presents delivered to you in time for the big day. 

As part of your role, you will 

  • Support the development of organisational strategies and plans. Develop and deliver plans; being able to set targets and KPIs, manage resources, and monitor and measure outcomes to establish effectiveness, efficiencies and excellence.    
  • Produce reports that clearly present information and data, using a range of interpretation and analytical processes. 
  • Plan, organise and manage resources in order to achieve organisational goals. Identify key outcomes, develop and implement plans and monitor progress.   
  • Proactively identify risk and create plans for their mitigation. Able to initiate, lead and drive change within the organisation, identifying barriers/challenges and how to overcome them.  
  • Manage budgets, controlling expenditure and production of financial reports. 
  • Use customer insight and analysis of data to determine and drive customer service outcomes and improve customer relationships.  
  • Able to identify service/organisational improvements and opportunities for innovation and growth 
  • Communicate regularly using oral, written and digital channels and platforms. Manage and chair meetings and clearly present actions and outcomes.

You will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the organization and may be required to travel to other parts of the country. 

Your apprenticeship 

Our programme provides unique exposure and development opportunities to individuals who are at the start of their career to gain the skills, knowledge, and experience to kickstart a successful career in management. During the 3-year scheme, you will gain first-hand experience of leading projects, activities and operations and/or services whilst also being supported to complete a fully funded Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6). 

You will gain first hand advice through guest speakers, mentors, and buddies on what makes a great professional manager and support to set yourself up for success.

Starting Salary: £22,500 

Duration: 3 years 

Eligibility: Five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or higher (including Maths and English) and you will be required to achieve 3 A-Levels (or equivalent) grade B or above in any subject
